$1 Million Match Challenge Coin
ECU Baseball and Bill Clark Homes Team Up
Challenge coins are often used to honor service and celebrate success, but we’ve never seen a challenge coin program help bring in $1 million!
Believe it or not, it’s happened! East Carolina University (ECU) teamed up with Bill Clark Homes to create a $1 million match fundraiser to help expand the school’s Baseball facilities. The program was designed to amplify the impact of contributions through a dollar-to-dollar match from Bill Clark Homes. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, students, and supporters, the campaign exceeded its goal in just over two weeks!
The program’s challenge coins were designed as exclusive gifts for anyone who donated at least $100 to the program. Each is a representation of a shared victory and symbol of the bright future for ECU Baseball!
Amplifying Generosity With a $1 Million Match
The premise of the fundraiser was simple but impactful: for every dollar donated, Bill Clark Homes would match the contribution. This essentially doubles the impact of each gift. The structure encouraged participation at all levels and made even modest contributions stretch further toward the ultimate goal of reaching $1 million.
All of the money raised is being channeled directly into the school’s Dick and Sarah Bennett Baseball Building Expansion. The new building along the third baseline of the school’s baseball field will enlarge the player locker room, player development areas, coach locker room, and create an open-air covered party deck for fans!
When it came time to design the custom challenge coins for the donors, it made sense to choose a familiar shape that would resonate with baseball fans! The 2.5” coins are cut in the shape of home plate, giving them a striking appearance to go along with the larger than normal size. The gold and purple color scheme falls in line with ECU’s branding and helps create a bold and striking effect against a white backdrop.
The team’s logo and the Bill Clark Homes logo help connect the coins to the program, and serve as a reminder of the incredible milestone each donor helped the school achieve!
